Sean Manning grew up on the west coast of Canada, moved to Calgary to write a Master’s thesis on the revolt of Cyrus the Younger (2013), and moved to Austria where he completed a PhD thesis in 2018 at the Universität Innsbruck on the Achaemenid empire at the Universität Innsbruck.
